The VAPORESSO Gen Max is a dual-18650, 5–220W box mod kit with a 6ml GTi-coil tank, from Vaporesso, the Shenzhen vape hardware maker behind the XROS, GEN and Armour lines, sold on vapsshop.ae for 250 AED with batteries sold separately. It suits adult vapers in Dubai who want direct-lung power, a large tank and a metal chassis in one kit. Our verdict: the most complete high-power kit in Vaporesso’s GEN range on vapsshop.ae, and the wrong buy for anyone who wants light weight or a ready-to-vape device.

Design and build

The Gen Max is a 141.4 × 49.7 × 28.5mm dual-18650 box mod in an aluminium-alloy shell with a 0.96in TFT screen, a fire button and a threaded 510 connection carrying a 24.5mm, 6ml tank. It is wider than the GEN 200 and heavier, and the extra width is where the second cell and the metal body live.

Aluminium alloy is the mechanism behind the feel. It is stiffer and colder in the hand than the coated shell of the GEN 200, it takes a brushed or anodised finish well, and it resists the scuffing that soft-touch coatings pick up over a year in a pocket. The trade is weight: a metal dual-battery mod loaded with two 18650s is a substantial object, and the Gen Max makes no attempt to hide it.

The battery door is at the base and takes two 18650 cells in series. Because the cells are external, the mod outlives them; when they wear out you replace two 40 AED cells rather than the device. The threaded 510 is worth noting: it means the Gen Max is a true mod, not a pod-only device, and any 510 tank or rebuildable atomiser up to about 25mm will sit flush.

The tank is the reason the Gen Max costs 30 AED more than the GEN 200. It holds 6ml, fills through a sliding top cap rather than a screw-off, and takes press-fit GTi mesh coils. Six millilitres at 60W is most of a day for a moderate direct-lung vaper, which halves the refilling a 2ml or 5ml tank would need. The five finishes (Arctic Silver, Dark Black, Ice Blue, Platinum Gold, Storm Blue) are anodising colours on the same hardware.

Flavour and vapor performance

The Gen Max drives GTi mesh coils across 5–220W, and the coils this tank is built for, the 0.2Ω and 0.4Ω GTi, run at 50–75W where the chip is accurate and the tank wicks comfortably. Flavour is warm, dense and layered, and the 6ml tank means you get that flavour for hours between refills.

Here is why coil resistance decides the experience more than the 220W headline. The 0.4Ω GTi wants roughly 50–60W: it heats fast, wicks easily and gives a controlled draw with the airflow half closed, and because it draws less current it is the coil that stretches two 18650s across a full day. The 0.2Ω GTi wants roughly 60–75W, moves more air and liquid, and produces the full-cloud direct-lung vape a dual-battery mod exists for. Neither coil comes near 220W; the ceiling is for rebuildables and very low-resistance builds on the 510, which the Gen Max supports and the pod-style GEN kits don’t.

In our testing the 0.4Ω at 55W is the setting to live on: fruit-ice liquids stay bright, dessert liquids come through with body, and the tank never gives a dry note between draws. The 0.2Ω at 65–70W turns the same liquid into a denser, warmer cloud with a rounder flavour and a faster drain on cells and tank.

The Gen Max lists VW (variable wattage) and Pulse modes. VW is a flat wattage; Pulse fires in rapid bursts to keep vapor consistent as the batteries sag, and it is the mode most owners settle on. The tank’s airflow closes to a restricted direct-lung draw but not a true mouth-to-lung one; the Gen Max is not the right device for a cigarette-style pull.

On nicotine: the kit ships empty, so strength is whatever you fill it with, capped at 20mg/ml in the UAE. On sub-ohm GTi coils at 50–75W, 3–6mg/ml freebase is the appropriate pairing; high-strength nicotine salt at that power is harsh and is not what a mod like this is for.

Battery and longevity

The Gen Max runs on two external 18650 cells in series and charges them in the mod over Type-C, or you can charge them externally and swap. Vaporesso does not publish a puff count. Two 3000mAh 18650s at 55W give a heavy user a full day; at 70W on the 0.2Ω coil plan on charging or swapping by evening.

The mechanism is the same as any regulated mod: the chip converts stored energy into the wattage you set, so higher wattage drains the cells in proportion. Two cells hold twice the energy of one, which is why the Gen Max can run a 0.2Ω coil at 70W for a working day when a single-18650 device would need a swap by lunch. The 6ml tank is sized to match: on the 0.4Ω coil, one fill and one pair of cells run out at roughly the same time.

Buy matched, high-drain cells. vapsshop.ae stocks the EFEST 18650 3000mAh and the AWT 18650 3500mAh at 40 AED each. Use two of the same brand, model and age, keep them as a pair, and never mix a fresh cell with a worn one; a series mod depends on both cells discharging at the same rate. Charging in the mod is convenient; an external charger is kinder to the cells and lets you keep a charged pair ready.

Coil life on the GTi mesh is the running cost. There is no published replacement interval; change the coil when flavour dulls or it tastes burnt, which comes sooner on the 0.2Ω at 70W with sweet liquids than on the 0.4Ω at 55W. Replacement VAPORESSO GTi coils are 49 AED a pack on vapsshop.ae.

The Octa also lists its included coils and carries IPX8/IPX9K waterproofing and drop protection, which the Gen Max does not. What the Gen Max offers in return is a slimmer, narrower aluminium body and a more conventional mod look; the Octa is bigger in every dimension because of its armour.

UAE-specific notes

Two rules shape how you use the Gen Max in the UAE: e-liquid nicotine is capped at 20mg/ml under the MOIAT standard UAE.S 5030:2018, and nicotine products may only be sold to adults aged 18 and over under Federal Law No. 15 of 2009.

Nicotine cap. The Gen Max is refillable, so the cap applies to the liquid rather than the device. Every e-liquid sold legally in the UAE sits at or below the 20mg/ml limit set in MOIAT’s mandatory regulation for electronic nicotine products (UAE.S 5030:2018). For sub-ohm coils at 50–75W, 3–6mg/ml freebase is the appropriate range.

Age restriction. This product is for adults aged 18 and over. Federal Law No. 15 of 2009 on Tobacco Control prohibits selling tobacco and nicotine products to anyone under 18, and vapsshop.ae verifies age at checkout. Vaping is not risk-free and this review makes no health claims about it.

Heat, storage and 18650 care. Two loose lithium cells need more care than a sealed pod. Never leave the mod or spare cells in a parked car in a Dubai summer, where interiors pass 60°C; carry spares in a plastic case, never loose with keys or coins; replace any cell with a torn wrap; and don’t charge in a hot car. An aluminium body conducts heat quickly, so a mod left in the sun will be hot to hold as well as bad for the cells. Keep the filled 6ml tank out of direct sun.

Most Gen Max reviews lead with 220W. What a Dubai buyer needs is the real cost with batteries, what the 510 connection lets you do, which coil to start on, and how the Gen Max sits against the GEN 200.

The real price. The kit is 250 AED; two 18650s are 80 AED; an external charger is optional but recommended. Budget 330 AED to be vaping on day one, and note that the same two cells can move to your next mod.

What the 510 is for. The Gen Max’s threaded 510 means the included tank is a starting point, not a limit. Any 510 sub-ohm tank, MTL tank or rebuildable atomiser up to roughly 25mm fits, which is how you’d actually use the 220W ceiling. Pod-style GEN kits can’t do this.

Which coil to start on. Fit the 0.4Ω GTi first at 50–55W. It’s more forgiving, uses less liquid and battery, and tells you whether you like a restricted direct-lung draw. Move to the 0.2Ω at 65–70W once you want more vapor. Prime a new coil by letting it sit filled for five minutes before the first fire.

Gen Max vs GEN 200. Same 220W, same GTi coils, same dual-18650 format. The GEN 200 is lighter with a coated shell and, as listed on vapsshop.ae, a 2ml TPD iTank; the Gen Max is heavier with an aluminium body and a 6ml tank.
