It suits adult vapers in Dubai who want one compact device that can run mouth-to-lung and direct-lung coils from the same pod bay. Our verdict: the most flexible pod kit at this price in the SMOK range, held back by an airflow that never gets truly tight.

Design and build

The SMOK Nord 50W is a 97 × 31 × 22.6mm zinc-alloy pod kit with a fire button, a small side-mounted display and a magnetic pod bay that accepts three different SMOK pod types. It is noticeably chunkier than an 800mAh auto-draw pod, and that extra size is where the 1800mAh cell and the 4–4.5ml pods live.

Zinc alloy is the right choice for a device this size. A 1800mAh battery and a full 4.5ml pod add weight, and a plastic shell at this scale tends to creak; the metal frame keeps the Nord 50W rigid and gives it a reassuring density in the hand. The panels are where SMOK spends the design budget: the eleven finishes range from plain Black Armor and White Armor to carbon-fibre, marbled resin, stabilised-wood and colour-shifting “Fluid” patterns. The hardware is identical across all eleven, so the choice is purely cosmetic.

The fire button is the main interaction. Unlike auto-draw pods, you press to vape and use the same button to adjust wattage, which keeps the body clean but means every change is a sequence of clicks rather than a dedicated control. The side display shows wattage, battery and resistance, and it’s small enough that you’ll glance at it rather than read it. The pod connection is magnetic and the pods fill from the side, so refilling doesn’t mean pulling a coil.

Flavour and vapor performance

The Nord 50W’s 5–50W range and 0.2–3.0Ω resistance window let it run everything from a 0.6Ω MTL coil at 20W to a 0.2Ω mesh at 40W+, which is why it can behave like two different devices depending on the pod you fit. Flavour is strong on the LP2 mesh coil in the 25–40W band; the Nord coil needs 25W or more before it comes alive.

Here is why the coil ecosystem matters more than the wattage number. The Nord 50W accepts three SMOK pod types, and each pod is matched to a coil family: the 4.5ml Nord pod takes Nord coils (the 0.6Ω DC regular coil is the classic MTL option), the 4ml LP2 pod takes LP2 coils (the 0.2Ω meshed coil is a direct-lung coil), and the 4ml RPM pod takes RPM coils. A coil’s resistance sets how much power it can take and how much air it wants: low-resistance mesh at higher wattage produces dense, warm vapor and needs open airflow, while a 0.6Ω coil at 20W gives a cooler, tighter draw that suits nicotine salt.

In our testing the LP2 0.2Ω mesh is the coil that makes the case for this kit. Between 25W and 40W it delivers a full, warm vapor with clear fruit and ice notes and no dry hits as long as you give it a few seconds between long draws. Pushing it to the top of its range with back-to-back drags outpaces the wicking, so treat 40W as the practical ceiling rather than a target. The Nord 0.6Ω DC coil is a different character: at 15–20W it is muted, and it needs 25W before flavour sharpens, at which point the draw is more restricted-lung than true mouth-to-lung.

That leads to the airflow, which is this kit’s real limitation. The control is adjustable, but even fully closed the draw stays looser than a dedicated MTL pod. If you want a cigarette-tight pull, the Nord 50W will disappoint; if you’re happy with a loose MTL or a restricted direct-lung draw, it’s excellent.

On nicotine: the Nord 50W ships without e-liquid, so the strength is whatever you fill it with, capped at 20mg/ml in the UAE. The coil dictates the sensible pairing: 10–20mg/ml salts on the 0.6Ω Nord coil, and 3–6mg/ml freebase on the 0.2Ω LP2 mesh, where a 20mg/ml liquid at 35W would be harsh.

Battery and longevity

The SMOK Nord 50W carries an 1800mAh internal battery charged over Type-C, and SMOK does not publish a puff count. Runtime depends almost entirely on wattage: a 1800mAh cell lasts a full day at 20W on the Nord coil and a working day at 35–40W on the LP2 mesh, but constant use at 45–50W will empty it in an afternoon.

The mechanism is simple: wattage is power draw, and power draw is what drains a battery. Doubling the wattage roughly halves the time between charges, which is why the same 1800mAh cell can feel generous on a 0.6Ω coil and tight on a 0.2Ω mesh. If you buy the Nord 50W to run the mesh coil hard, plan to charge it daily; if you run the Nord coil at 20W, the battery is one of the kit’s strengths.

SMOK’s published charging rate for the Nord 50W is 1.2A over Type-C, which works out to roughly an hour and a half from empty to full. The vapsshop.ae listing describes Type-C fast charging without a figure, so treat the 1.2A rate as the manufacturer’s number rather than something we measured. The side display shows the battery level, so you don’t have to interpret an LED colour.

Pod and coil life is the other longevity question. The pods themselves are reusable; the coils are the consumable. Replacement coils are sold separately on vapsshop.ae for the Nord, RPM and LP2 series, and there is no published replacement interval: change a coil when flavour fades or the draw turns burnt, which on a 0.2Ω mesh run at 35W+ will come sooner than on a 0.6Ω coil at 20W.

UAE-specific notes

Two rules shape how you use the Nord 50W in the UAE: e-liquid nicotine is capped at 20mg/ml under the MOIAT standard UAE.S 5030:2018, and nicotine products may only be sold to adults aged 18 and over under UAE regulations.

Nicotine cap. The Nord 50W is refillable, so the cap applies to the liquid you buy rather than the device. Every e-liquid sold legally in the UAE sits at or below the 20mg/ml limit set in MOIAT’s mandatory regulation for electronic nicotine products (UAE.S 5030:2018). Match the strength to the coil: 10–20mg/ml salts on the 0.6Ω Nord coil, 3–6mg/ml freebase on the 0.2Ω LP2 mesh.

Which pods you actually get. The kit ships with two pods pre-fitted with coils: an LP2 pod with the 0.2Ω meshed direct-lung coil and a Nord pod with the 0.6Ω DC coil. The RPM pod is not included; it’s one of the three types sold in the SMOK Nord 50W replacement pod pack on vapsshop.ae (40 AED for three, RPM/LP2 at 4ml, Nord at 4.5ml).

How the three pod types differ. Nord pods hold 4.5ml and take Nord coils, the MTL-leaning family; LP2 pods hold 4ml and take LP2 coils, which are tuned for restricted-lung and direct-lung; RPM pods hold 4ml and take the RPM coil series, which sits between the two. Because each pod is matched to one coil family, you switch styles by swapping the whole pod rather than just the coil.

Regular vs Leather Series. vapsshop.ae lists a Nord 50W Leather Series at 130 AED. The internals are the same; the Leather version adds a wrapped panel and costs 10 AED more. Choose by finish, not by performance.

Running costs. Because the pods are reusable and only the coils are consumed, ongoing cost is a pack of coils rather than a pack of pods. With three coil families to choose from, you can pick the one that lasts longest for your wattage rather than being locked to a single option.
